We Celebrate Our New 2011 Habitat for Humanity Home
Jennifer King was given a Bible, keys to her new home, and quilts for each member of her family (quilted by our Sewing and Service Group) at a home blessing. It was a wonderful event and the culmination of a cooperative mission venture by Christ Presbyterian Church, St. Michael's in the Hills Episcopal Church, and St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church.
Our church has had a great history of providing support for individuals and social service agencies in the Toledo area. We prepare food boxes at Thanksgiving and Christmas, along with purchasing gifts at Christmas for needy families in Sylvania. We collect food on a weekly basis and give it to Feed Your Neighbor and food banks. We support two community gardens and the one that is located on our property provides produce to local food banks. In addition to providing produce for the Food Bank, our Community Garden also provides fresh produce for the corner, our twice monthly community outreach dinner. In the past, we have joined with Love INC (Love In the Name of Christ) in weatherizing homes for low-income seniors. We have held garage sales to benefit mission projects and participated in community clean-up days. We also make financial gifts to shelters and other relief agencies in our community.
The “Feed Your Neighbor” center at Epiphany Lutheran Church expresses
its appreciation to CPC for their contribution of pantry items.
